Ladakh Class 10 and 12 Results Show Improvement, Offering Hope for Education System

After last year’s disappointing performance that raised serious concerns about the state of education in Ladakh, the recently declared results for Classes 10 and 12 have brought a glimmer of hope to students, educators, and policymakers alike.

According to the School Education Department, a total of 1,565 students appeared for the Class 12 board examinations this year, out of which 736 students passed, recording a pass percentage of 47%.

In Class 10, 1,683 students appeared for the exams, and 1,189 students passed, bringing the overall pass percentage to a more encouraging 71%.

While several Higher Secondary Schools have delivered exceptional results, with some even achieving a 100% pass rate in Class 12, there remain institutions that have been categorized as “Red Zone Schools” by the department due to poor performance.

This categorization raises an important question: Will labeling schools as ‘Red Zone’ lead to real improvement, or is a concrete administrative plan required to uplift these institutions?

Stakeholders now look toward the administration for targeted interventions, capacity building, and systemic reforms to ensure that no school or student is left behind.1
