Social Science Students Demand Restoration of Eligibility Criteria for Social Worker grade II Post

Under the 2022 notifications of KSSRB and SSC, the eligibility criteria for the post of Social Worker were clearly defined as a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or Social Work.

However, in the 2025 notification, the department has relaxed the criteria, allowing all graduates to apply, mentioning only a preference for candidates from Social Science backgrounds.

This change has sparked concern among Social Science students, who argue that the Social Worker role requires specialized knowledge and skills that are developed specifically through Social Science and Social Work education. They are urging the authorities to reconsider the revised criteria and restore the earlier provision, thereby ensuring that the post remains aligned with its professional requirements.
